Husk has launched a dedicated residential rooftop solar service in India, called BEEM. A wholly-owned business of Husk, BEEM will cater to homeowners across the country and draws on Husk’s nearly two decades of experience in solar system design, technology, installation, and service.

BEEM’s offering has been developed to meet the needs of homeowners, with system sizing, tailored space usage, and access to generation data included. The service allows customers to assess their requirements, choose a product, and arrange purchase and installation entirely online and remotely. BEEM is launching with two products, Aura and Eternia, both designed for flat roofs common in much of India. Financing is available through BEEM’s partners, along with assistance for government subsidies and net metering.

“PM Surya Ghar Yojana’s subsidy, low-cost loans and 15-day simplified application process have created massive tailwinds for residential solar growth in India, but the industry remains slow-moving, fragmented, unstructured and mismatched to homeowners’ needs,” said Anubha Shukla, Husk’s Chief Commercial Officer and head of BEEM. “BEEM not only addresses this mismatch, but does so at speed and scale.”

BEEM is initially launching in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra.

The Government of India’s PM Surya Ghar Yojana aims to support rooftop solar adoption in 10 million homes, with a target of 30 gigawatts of installations by 2027. The scheme, launched in 2024, offers subsidised installations for systems generating up to 300kWh per month, with a simplified application process aimed at completing disbursements within 15 days. It also provides loans at rates as low as 7 percent, with no credit score requirement. The government has also made significant investments in awareness campaigns and plans to increase this spending.

“BEEM’s AI-powered digital platform simplifies the entire homeowner journey for going solar, the same way the iPhone revolutionised mobile commerce 15 years ago,” said Husk CEO and Co-Founder Manoj Sinha.

He added, “We will leverage BEEM to evolve India’s distributed energy sector into virtual power plants (VPPs) that will democratise the energy ecosystem and put energy production and trading in the hands of people.”
