Birla Institute of Management Technology (BIMTECH), an AACSB-accredited business school in India, has announced that its student team has been named the Global Winner of the PRME Global Students Sustainability Awards 2025. The event took place at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
The team, “BIMTECH – UFE”, included Neer Soni, Arunojya Vatsa, and Deval Kambaliya, and was mentored by Dr Reeti Kulshrestha, Faculty in Sustainability and Responsible Business at BIMTECH.
The award, presented by the United Nations-supported Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME), recognises student-led organisations whose work aligns with the Seven Principles for Responsible Management Education and contributes to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The winning team received a prize of USD 2,000, sponsored by Marketplace Simulations, to support current and future sustainability projects.
Dr Prabina Rajib, Director of BIMTECH, said, “This memorable achievement proves that for us sustainability is not just a subject to be studied but a purpose to be lived. Moments like these motivate us and act as a testament that we as an institute are moving in the right direction.”
The BIMTECH-UFE team progressed through a six-month, multi-stage evaluation process. One of the key rounds, organised by Marketplace Simulations, involved a five-week simulation competition in which teams managed a sustainable enterprise. This round assessed their problem-solving, strategic thinking, decision-making, and approach to sustainability.
The team advanced from being the regional winner for South and Central Asia, to the global Top 5, then the Top 3, and finally was selected as the Global Winner.
BIMTECH, inspired by its founders Late Basant Kumar Birla and Sarala Birla, offers programmes including PGDM, PGDM-International Business, PGDM-Retail Management, and PGDM-Insurance Business Management. The institute has a network of over 8,000 alumni based in various parts of the world.
