Andhra Pradesh launches pioneering Green Skills Academy to boost career readiness in sustainability

The centre will serve as a transformative platform, empowering youth and young professionals.

N. Chandrababu Naidu, Honourable Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh inaugurated India’s and state’s first 1M1B Green Skills Academy’s Career Readiness Centre at Kuppam, Andhra Pradesh. The first center will equip youth and young professionals with essential green skills and career-readiness training, paving the way for sustainable employment within Andhra Pradesh’s and India’s expanding green economy.

In a landmark collaboration, the Kuppam Area Development Authority (KADA) partnered with the United Nations-accredited 1M1B Foundation (One Million for One Billion) to set up 1M1B Green Skills Academy’s Career Readiness Centre in Kuppam. This initiative is aligned with Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s vision for a technologically advanced and sustainable Andhra Pradesh.

The 1M1B Green Skills Academy is developed for college students and adult learners aged over 18. It is designed to equip the future workforce with the skillset, mindset and toolsets needed in a rapidly evolving green economy. It offers a unique blend of theoretical knowledge, projects, workplace experiences, internships and job readiness mentoring creating a dynamic learning environment.

The centre will serve as a transformative platform, empowering youth and young professionals (18 years and above) with the knowledge, skills, and experiences required to excel in green job roles and entrepreneurial ventures. Through this partnership, 1M1B aims to provide hands-on training in the fields such as e-waste management, renewable energy, electric mobility, and sustainable agriculture.

Manav Subodh, Founder of 1M1B said, “This initiative represents a significant step forward in realizing Andhra Pradesh’s vision of sustainable growth, providing the young people of state with the skills and support they need to thrive in the green economy. 1M1B’s vision is to make Kuppam a global hub for green skills and a model for nurturing climate talent.”

Vikas Marmat, IAS, Project Director of KADA, emphasised the importance of equipping the youth with skills that align with Andhra Pradesh’s vision for sustainable growth and quotes, “This initiative equips them with the skills needed to build a brighter future while driving the region’s progress.”

This centre will open doors for youth and young adults in Andhra Pradesh and especially around Kuppam, promoting inclusion by actively encouraging participation from rural, tribal, and social welfare communities.
