
Miyana Railway Station in Guna district, Madhya Pradesh, has been conferred the National Energy Conservation Award 2025 in recognition of its exemplary energy efficiency initiatives. The award was presented on National Energy Conservation Day by the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, highlighting Indian Railways’ growing focus on sustainable infrastructure.
The station was recognised as the best performing unit in the transport category for railway stations. The honour was received on behalf of the station by the General Manager of West Central Railway, Shobhana Bandopadhyaya.
The award, instituted by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency, acknowledges outstanding contributions to energy conservation across sectors. Miyana Railway Station stood out for implementing LED lighting, energy-efficient BLDC fans, and smart lighting circuits operating between 30 and 70 per cent capacity.
These interventions have enabled the station to achieve electricity savings of 9,687 units, significantly reducing operational energy consumption while maintaining passenger comfort and safety.
