Demonstrating its long-standing commitment to shaping young, environmentally conscious leaders, Tata Power, one of India’s largest integrated power companies, hosted Maharashtra’s first-ever ‘Urja Mela 2025’ in Trombay, Mumbai. The flagship event, held under the company’s renowned Club Enerji initiative, brought together more than 300 students and educators from 27 schools across Mumbai and Tata Power’s Hydro regions, including Mandavne, Gaulwadi, Karanjgaon, Inglun, Vahangaon, Wadeshwar, Tamhini, Ambavane and Bhira.

Centred around the theme “Clean Energy, Greener Tomorrow,” the day-long showcase featured an impressive exhibition of STEM-based science models, poster competitions, quizzes, live demonstrations, cultural performances and interactive learning formats. The event aimed to deepen students’ understanding of climate responsibility, energy conservation and sustainable lifestyles — key pillars of Tata Power’s broader clean-energy advocacy.

A major highlight of the Mela was the launch of the Club Enerji educational booklet in Marathi, reinforcing Tata Power’s goal of offering accessible and practical sustainability education in regional languages. Students who excelled in the competitions will go on to represent Maharashtra at the National Urja Mela in Delhi during National Energy Conservation Week.

Senior leaders from Tata Power — including Mr Himal Tewari, CHRO and Chief – Sustainability & CSR; Mr Ashish Bhat, Chief – Trombay; Mr Vispi Patel, Company Secretary; Ms Jyoti Bansal, Chief – Corporate Communication; and Mr Pankaj Kumar Singh, Chief – Community Impact (Generation, T&D and Renewables) — graced the event. They encouraged participants to innovate responsibly, think boldly and adopt everyday actions that contribute to environmental protection.

The Urja Mela forms a vital part of the Club Enerji movement, one of India’s largest school-based sustainability programmes. Since its inception in 2007, Club Enerji has grown into a nationwide initiative, reaching over 10 lakh students from more than 2,500 schools across 15 states and 15 aspirational districts, including rural and government institutions. Over the years, Urja Melas and Mini Urja Melas conducted across Tata Power locations have engaged 50,000+ students, fostering a unique culture of “reverse parenting”, where children inspire families to adopt greener habits.

Continuing its expansion, Tata Power recently introduced the Club Enerji Eco Crew Programme, which has already reached over 1,000 schools and 3 lakh students across 24 cities in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. The initiative blends on-ground activities with digital learning, student-friendly booklets and a 21-day gamified sustainability journey, aligned with Mission LiFE and Digital India.

The Urja Mela 2025 stands as a testament to Tata Power’s commitment to nurturing future-ready sustainability leaders and advancing India’s Net Zero aspirations. Through its continued work with young changemakers, Tata Power reaffirms its philosophy of Powering Transformations and building a greener, cleaner future for all.
