Routematic, India’s leading AI-enabled corporate commute automation and fleet management platform, has announced a major environmental milestone on National Pollution Control Day, reporting a cumulative reduction of 8,348 tonnes of CO₂ emissions in 2025. The achievement highlights the growing role of AI-optimised routing, shared mobility and electric vehicle (EV) adoption in cutting urban transport emissions and improving corporate ESG performance.

The company recorded substantial CO₂ reductions across India’s busiest corporate and technology hubs. Delhi-NCR achieved 2,174.9 tonnes, Hyderabad 2,007 tonnes, Pune 1,914.5 tonnes, and Bengaluru 1,650.8 tonnes, while Chennai contributed 494.2 tonnes and Mumbai 107.2 tonnes. Collectively, these savings equal the environmental impact of planting over 375,000 trees or eliminating emissions comparable to more than 1,800 cars annually.

Routematic currently facilitates more than 3.5 lakh daily employee rides across India’s leading IT/ITeS, GCC, BFSI and new-age enterprises—positioning it as one of the country’s largest and most sustainable corporate commute networks. The milestone arrives at a critical time, with several Indian metros continuing to face severe air-quality challenges. Transport contributes nearly 14% of India’s total CO₂ emissions, with road transport accounting for nearly 90% of this share. Employee commute alone forms a significant portion of daily vehicular traffic in major urban centres.

As India advances on its journey towards its 2070 net-zero target, enterprises are increasingly turning to technology-enabled transport solutions that reduce carbon footprints while maintaining employee safety, wellbeing and productivity. Routematic’s continued progress demonstrates how AI-powered routing and shared commute models can drive measurable environmental benefits at scale.

Reinforcing this commitment, Sriram Kannan, Founder and CEO of Routematic, said that employee commute remains one of India’s most overlooked contributors to urban air pollution and needs to be a central component in pollution-control strategies. He emphasised that the combination of artificial intelligence, electric mobility and shared transport models enables corporates to deliver tangible climate action. He added that the 2025 milestone underlines the company’s mission to support corporate India’s sustainability goals while enabling safe and reliable commutes for employees.

This year’s sustainability achievement aligns with Routematic’s expansion following its USD 40 million Series C funding in May 2025, led by climate-focused investors Fullerton Carbon Action Fund and Shift4Good. The capital infusion is supporting the company’s roadmap to scale its EV fleet, strengthen AI routing capabilities, and boost operational efficiency through the growth of its 24×7 Operations Command Centres, which serve an expanding client base across India.

Routematic is also investing in developing a more inclusive and future-ready driver ecosystem. The company has increased its focus on employing and training women drivers across its operations, reinforcing its mission towards social sustainability while supporting safe, professionally managed commute services for India’s workforce.

With rising urbanisation, growing corporate mobility needs and escalating concerns around air quality, Routematic’s data-driven, shared commute model is emerging as a scalable solution for cleaner, safer and more efficient employee transport. The company’s efforts not only contribute to national pollution-control objectives but also help enterprises strengthen compliance with global ESG frameworks and sustainability mandates.

As India navigates the twin challenges of rapid economic growth and environmental preservation, innovations such as AI-enabled fleet optimisation and EV-integrated commute systems are becoming central to the country’s long-term climate strategy. Routematic’s latest milestone showcases how technology-powered models can accelerate India’s transition towards greener urban mobility and a more sustainable future.
