Epsilon Foundation, the corporate social responsibility arm of Epsilon Carbon Private Limited, has partnered with the East-West Seed Knowledge Transfer Foundation (EWS-KT) to roll out a collaborative pilot project designed to improve farmer incomes through sustainable vegetable cultivation in Jharsuguda district.
The six-month initiative, titled Enhancing Farmers’ Income Through Promotion of Sustainable Vegetable Production Practices, aims to support rural communities by strengthening market-driven and environmentally responsible farming methods. Although Jharsuguda has a strong agricultural base, local farmers continue to face economic pressures and environmental constraints that limit their productivity and long-term resilience.
As part of the programme, 1,000 smallholder farmers will receive hands-on field training and access to digital learning tools. The project will focus on practical knowledge in soil and plant health, climate-smart techniques, integrated pest management, and farm business planning. These interventions are expected to enhance crop quality, reduce losses and help farmers align their produce with market demands.
In addition to technical capacity building, Epsilon Foundation will contribute volunteer support from its employees, reinforcing the project’s impact on local communities and strengthening long-term partnerships in the region.
The initiative is positioned to create a replicable model for sustainable vegetable production and to offer rural households new opportunities for economic growth across Jharsuguda.
