Al Gore launches initiative to advance climate action

The former US Vice President seeks to build the political will, public momentum, and ambition for bold climate commitments leading up to the COP 30 in Brazil.

The Climate Reality Project, a non-profit climate organisation founded by former US Vice President Al Gore, is launching the REALITY Tour to build the political will, public momentum, and ambition for bold climate commitments leading up to the UNFCCC’s COP 30 in Brazil.

In a first for The Climate Reality Project, Al Gore will give his signature presentation on the climate crisis in 12 languages, using state-of-the-art AI provided by technology from Metaphysic, enabling people from around the world to tune in live to learn the latest about climate impacts and solutions.

The 2025 tour will also include in-person trainings in New Delhi, Canada, Philippines, and South Africa with major events in Paris, Nairobi, Rio de Janeiro, and Ulaanbaatar.

With emissions, temperatures, and anti-climate action rhetoric rising worldwide, world leaders are in danger of missing critical 2030 emissions reduction targets. This tour will rally people worldwide to make their voices heard and encourage public and private sector decision-makers to take ambitious and necessary action to avert climate catastrophe – at COP 30 and beyond.

The tour features three components beginning with global in-person advocacy trainings kick off on 28–30 March in Paris, which was home to the historic Paris Agreement that galvanized climate action globally 10 years ago. Throughout 2025, the tour will also hold major multi-day in-person trainings for advocates in Nairobi, Kenya; Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; and Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.

This will be followed by one-day trainings for advocates in their cities, growing the base of support and demand for action beyond the global trainings. On March 29, branch-led trainings will take place in Brazil, Canada, the Philippines and South Africa, and on April 5 in India, Fiji, Indonesia, Japan, and Mexico. The trainings will offer participants the opportunity to experience Vice President Gore’s signature presentation on the climate crisis and other recorded highlights from the Paris training, along with content focused on local challenges and opportunities.

Attending training equips individuals with the know-how, skills, and network to drive real change in their industries and communities while pushing their governments for ambitious commitments in line with the Paris Agreement.

The timing is important. There is scientific consensus showing that in order to meet the goals of the Paris Agreement, greenhouse gas emissions must be cut in half by 2030. Halfway through this critical decade for action, greenhouse gas emissions are still rising. That’s why upcoming talks at COP 30 represent a critical opportunity to collectively ramp up climate action ambition and urge world leaders to commit to the plans necessary to rapidly cut emissions and avert the worst impacts of the climate crisis.

“This is a critical moment to take stock of the climate progress we have made in the ten years since the world came together to forge the Paris Agreement. It is also urgently necessary to acknowledge and address the significant steps we still need to take if we want to truly solve the climate crisis,” said Climate Reality founder and Chairman Al Gore. “The reality of this crisis is all around us as climate impacts continue to get worse faster than we are taking climate action. Now is the time to reinvigorate global leadership on the climate crisis. That’s why we’re launching the REALITY Tour; to empower people around the world to speak truth to power and push for the ambitious climate action we need to solve the climate crisis.”

Climate Reality President and CEO Phyllis Cuttino said, “We urge people to join the REALITY Tour, either in person or online, to help us build a better tomorrow for us all. We can work together to create a future powered by clean energy, where international cooperation on climate change is the norm. At this crucial moment in history, we are dialling up the unrelenting pressure from citizens worldwide that leaves national leaders no choice but to seize this moment and act.”
