International Women’s Day 2025

Turning Aspirations Into Reality With Meaningful Action: Seema Bansal of DCGpac

IWD 2025: True progress requires ensuring women are heard, valued, and empowered through equal pay, flexible work policies, and inclusive leadership programmes that nurture talent without gender-based limitations.

The focus of the International Women’s Day to ‘Accelerate Action’ is not just a call to celebrate progress but a reminder that transformative change requires continuous, intentional efforts. While gender equality has seen significant strides, true empowerment demands action beyond rhetoric—action that dismantles barriers, challenges norms, and creates inclusive opportunities for women across all sectors.

Accelerating action begins with recognising that inequality isn’t always overt. It often lies in the subtle biases, missed opportunities and lack of representation in decision-making spaces.  True progress requires proactive measures to ensure that women are not just present but heard, valued, and empowered to lead. This means advocating for equal pay, flexible work policies and inclusive leadership programmes that nurture talent without gender-based limitations.

To accelerate change, investing in education and skill development for women is paramount. Bridging the digital divide, promoting STEM education, and encouraging entrepreneurial ventures equip women to navigate and succeed in an evolving world. When women are empowered with knowledge and skills, they not only uplift themselves but also drive positive change within their communities.

Real progress happens when individuals, organisations and governments collaborate. Partnerships between the public and private sectors can amplify initiatives aimed at women’s empowerment. From mentorship programs to community-driven projects, collaborative efforts create ecosystems where women can thrive.

Accelerating action is not a one-time effort but a continuous commitment to inclusivity, equity, and opportunity. It requires each of us—leaders, educators, policymakers and individuals—to challenge the status quo and champion initiatives that pave the way for a more equitable future. This International Women’s Day, let’s move beyond conversations and accelerate the actions that turn aspirations into reality.
