Logistics conglomerate unveils ESG report, commits to carbon neutrality by 2040

Allcargo Group’s 2023-24 ESG report outlines its commitment to carbon neutrality by 2040, focusing on sustainable logistics.

Allcargo Group, the Indian-born global logistics conglomerate, has released its Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) report for 2023-2024, themed ‘Charting Sustainable Pathways with Ingenuity.’ This comprehensive report highlights the Group’s ambitious commitment to achieving carbon neutrality by 2040 while detailing its ongoing sustainability initiatives across energy, emissions, community development, labor practices, and governance.

Shashi Kiran Shetty, Founder & Chairman of Allcargo Group, emphasised that the company’s approach to ESG transcends mere compliance, focusing instead on creating long-term value for people, the planet, and stakeholders. Shetty added, “Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) 2023-2024 report, reflects our steadfast commitment to building a sustainable and inclusive future for all.”

The Group’s ESG efforts are closely aligned with India’s broader sustainability targets, which include achieving net-zero emissions by 2070 and reducing emissions intensity by 45% by 2030, compared to 2005 levels. Allcargo Group’s initiatives contribute directly to these national goals while pushing forward its own comprehensive environmental, social, and governance framework.

Key Actions Toward Sustainability

Allcargo Gati, a subsidiary of Allcargo Group, is making significant strides in sustainable transportation. The company has set a target to transition its entire fleet of first and last-mile deliveries in India to alternative fuels by 2026. This move underscores Allcargo Gati’s commitment to greener logistics, in line with the Group’s overarching sustainability goals.

Allcargo Group continues to make a substantial impact through its community development programs, contributing to several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These include Good Health and Well-being (SDG 3), Quality Education (SDG 4), Sustainable Cities and Communities (SDG 11), and Life below Water (SDG 14). Through these initiatives, Allcargo is driving positive social change while advancing its ESG agenda.

ECU Worldwide, another key arm of the Group, is leading the charge in optimising logistics through its digital platform, ECU360. This platform plays a crucial role in reducing paperwork and enhancing the efficiency of shipping transactions. By facilitating 90% online bookings, ECU360 significantly reduces paper use, directly supporting the Group’s sustainability goals.

The Group’s environmental initiatives are focused on achieving carbon neutrality by 2040, and it is making substantial progress toward this target.

Allcargo Group places a strong emphasis on governance and ethical business practices. The company has committed to maintaining zero instances of non-compliance with regulatory requirements year-on-year. It has also earned ISO 27001:2022 certification for its information assets and IT infrastructure, ensuring top-tier security and regulatory compliance.

The Group’s efforts are further bolstered by its use of the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol for emissions reporting, along with the Global Logistics Emissions Council (GLEC) Framework, to measure and mitigate emissions across its operations.

One of the standout achievements of the year is Allcargo Group’s progress in the S&P Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA), where it has achieved a near four-fold increase in its score compared to the previous year. This remarkable improvement reflects the Group’s deepening commitment to sustainable growth and responsible business practices.

As Allcargo Group progresses toward its goal of carbon neutrality by 2040, the company remains steadfast in its belief that sustainability and business growth can and should go hand in hand. Through continued innovation and partnerships, the Group aims to shape a future that balances environmental stewardship with business excellence.
